Activating your ViNA Account

A step-by-step guide to helping you activate your ViNA account and begin receiving your notifications online.

Activating your ViNA account

  • Receive your 'Activation Link'

Once you’ve expressed an interest in signing up to ViNA, an ‘Activation Link’ will be emailed to the email address you have provided us.

This activation link is valid for 3 days and can only be clicked once.

We recommend you click the link when you have time to finish setting up your account. It usually only takes about 5 to 10 minutes to complete the steps below.

If your link expires please email us at victim.notification@corrections.govt.nz and we can send you a new activation link.

  • Complete 3 easy steps to start receiving notifications through ViNA

    1. Click the link and set your password

Clicking the link in your email will activate your account and take you to a page to set your password.

You can also choose to add a second layer of security here. If you have a smart phone, you can download an app that creates a code which you’ll enter along with your password to log in to ViNA.

    2. Check your contact details

Once you’ve set your password and security, you’ll be asked to confirm your details. If anything needs updating you can change that here.

After confirming your details, you’ll be prompted to set your contact preferences.

For anything urgent we will always call you, but with ViNA you can choose whether you’d like to be informed about non-urgent new information via text or email. You can choose what dates you do not wish to hear from us. These could be dates such as family member’s birthdays.

    3. Add your support people (optional)

We know it can be difficult receiving new information, and it can be helpful to have whanau or friends around you when notifications arrive. You can choose to link your support people to your account. ViNA wont send any sensitive information to them, just a note that prompts them to check in with you.

Please note that you wont be able to get notifications through ViNA until you've completed all three steps.

Please note that we will never ask you for your password over the phone or by email. Any call, message or email that asks for your account password could be a scam and should be reported to us. You can do this by calling 0800 603 240 or email us at victim.notification@corrections.govt.nz.
  • Troubleshooting
